Teen Star’s Near-Death Experience Changes Everything

Additional Coverage:

Actor Chad Michael Murray recently shared a harrowing story of a near-death experience when he was just 15 years old. During an appearance on the “Great Company” podcast, the 43-year-old actor revealed that a twisted intestine led to a two-and-a-half-month hospitalization, internal bleeding, and the loss of half his blood volume.

Murray described being on his deathbed, recalling the presence of his father, a priest, and discussions of last rites. A crucial blood transfusion ultimately saved his life, but his ordeal wasn’t over.

He required a second surgery to address organ complications caused by coagulated blood. Upon leaving the hospital, Murray had lost over 60 pounds, a dramatic transformation that left him barely recognizable to himself.

Despite the trauma, Murray credits the experience with strengthening his relationship with his father, who visited him daily despite having four other children at home, and deepening his faith. He described his father as “tough as nails” for his unwavering support.

Murray has previously spoken about the importance of faith and family in his life. He emphasizes having a strong foundation and believes that prioritizing God and family guides his decision-making, helping him avoid difficult situations and approach life with love. He shared an anecdote about how even a simple gesture of kindness can change someone’s day, reflecting his belief in the power of love and faith.
