Actor Dean Cain, known for his role as Superman in the 90s TV series Lois & Clark, recently appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored to defend his decision to join ICE. Cain’s new role as a reserve officer with the agency has drawn criticism, most notably from comedian John Oliver. Oliver mocked Cain’s acting career, joking that ICE must be struggling if they’re “pinning a badge” on the star of multiple “Dog Who Saved…” movies.
On Morgan’s show, Cain addressed the criticism, stating, “Go ahead and denigrate my career…what I’m doing is I’m standing up for the men and women of ICE.” Cain, a sworn deputy sheriff and reserve police officer for nearly a decade, insisted ICE agents are unfairly vilified and are simply “doing the job that the American people hired them for.”
Fellow guest Tim Miller, a political commentator, challenged Cain’s defense of ICE, calling some of the agency’s tactics “un-American.” Miller criticized the practice of “putting on masks and jumping out of U-Hauls” to apprehend people, arguing that “that’s not how you act in a free country.”
Cain reiterated his support for ICE agents, describing them as “wonderful men and women” who are upholding the law. He accused Miller of villainizing both him and the agents. Cain announced his new role with ICE on August 6th, stating his desire to contribute to the safety of all Americans.
