Kelly Clarkson’s Ex-Husband’s Last Days Revealed

Additional Coverage:

Brandon Blackstock, former husband of singer Kelly Clarkson, has passed away after a three-year battle with melanoma, a severe form of skin cancer. His passing was confirmed by his family in a statement requesting privacy. Blackstock was 46.

Just hours before the news broke, Clarkson announced the postponement of her Las Vegas residency dates, citing her children’s father’s illness. In a social media post, she expressed her need to be present for her children, River and Remington, whom she shared with Blackstock.

Blackstock and Clarkson married in 2013 and finalized their divorce in 2022 after a protracted legal battle over finances and custody. While the specific reasons for their separation were never publicly disclosed, Clarkson cited “irreconcilable differences” in her initial filing.

At the time of his death, Blackstock was in a relationship with Brittney Marie Jones, described in his obituary as his “beautiful and loving partner in life and business.” Together, they built several businesses, including Headwaters Livestock Auction and The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana.

Blackstock also leaves behind two children, Savannah and Seth, from his previous marriage to Melissa Ashworth. The pair were married from 2001 to 2012. Despite their divorce, Ashworth has spoken positively about Clarkson in past interviews, describing a friendly relationship between the two.
