DOJ Worker Fired for Sandwich Attack on Agent

Additional Coverage:

A Department of Justice employee has been terminated following an alleged assault on a U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent in Washington, D.C. Sean Charles Dunn was charged with felony assault of a federal officer after allegedly throwing a sandwich at the agent Sunday night.

According to court documents, Dunn confronted the agent, shouting expletives and anti-government sentiments before throwing the sandwich. Attorney General Pam Bondi expressed outrage over the incident and confirmed Dunn’s dismissal from the DOJ via social media. She emphasized that such behavior would not be tolerated within the administration.

A video circulating on social media reportedly shows the incident. The alleged assault occurred shortly after the Trump administration’s announcement of a federal intervention in the city’s policing, a move prompted by what President Trump claims are escalating crime levels.

This intervention involves deploying National Guard members and increasing federal law enforcement presence within the capital. However, local officials contend that crime statistics show a 30-year low in violent crime.

The federal intervention is currently authorized for 30 days, requiring Congressional approval for any extension.

Dunn faces a potential one-year prison sentence if convicted.
