Yucaipa, CA — The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the disappearance of 7-month-old Emmanuel Haro, and the circumstances surrounding the case are increasingly raising questions.
The infant was reported missing on Monday, August 14th, around 7:47 p.m. His mother, Rebecca Haro, initially told deputies she was assaulted outside a Big 5 Sporting Goods store on Yucaipa Boulevard, and that Emmanuel was kidnapped during the attack.
However, after interviewing both Rebecca and her husband, Jake Haro, investigators discovered inconsistencies in Rebecca’s account. She subsequently stopped cooperating with the investigation.
The Sheriff’s Department has stated they cannot rule out foul play. The lack of security footage and a clear suspect or vehicle description has prevented the issuing of an Amber Alert.
The case has also drawn the attention, and subsequent withdrawal, of the Uvalde Foundation for Kids. The foundation initially offered a reward but pulled back, citing concerns about the inconsistencies in the mother’s story and her refusal to cooperate. Foundation founder Daniel Chapin stated, “Something is not right in this whole picture.”
Emmanuel was last seen wearing a black Nike onesie. He is described as weighing approximately 21 pounds, 24 inches tall, with brown hair and eyes, and is cross-eyed.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department urges anyone with information to contact them at 909-890-4904. The investigation remains active.
