Game Show Icon Vanna White Dishes on ‘Wheel of Fortune,’ Fashion, and Retirement
Vanna White, the ever-smiling face of “Wheel of Fortune,” recently opened up about her decades-long career, her bond with new host Ryan Seacrest, and what a typical day looks like for the glamorous letter-turner. Honored on the Forbes 50 Over 50 list, the 68-year-old TV personality reflected on her enduring appeal, saying she strives to “give a good feeling to people.”
White admitted to feeling apprehensive when longtime co-host Pat Sajak announced his retirement. “I thought I would step away with Pat,” she confessed, adding that the idea of working with someone new was daunting.
Ultimately, her love for the show outweighed her fears, and she decided against retirement. Following negotiations, White signed a new two-year contract, reportedly worth $10 million annually – a significant increase from her previous $3 million salary.
A typical workday for White is a whirlwind of activity. Starting at 7 a.m. with wardrobe fittings for thirty different outfits, she moves on to hair and makeup, press conferences, and finally, taping six episodes of “Wheel of Fortune,” wrapping up around 6 p.m.
“They have it so precise after all these years,” she remarked. White acknowledges the importance of her fashion choices, noting that viewers anticipate seeing her outfits each day.
As for her own retirement plans, White remains coy. “I have a contract for this next year, and we’ll go from there,” she stated.
In the meantime, White has been enjoying some downtime, recently catching up with Sajak in Hawaii, where she attended his stage show, “Prescription: Murder.” White shared photos on social media, expressing her support for her former co-host. It seems the “Wheel of Fortune” icon is making the most of her time off before the game show returns for a new season.
