Seattle Police Recover Macklemore’s Stolen Ring

Additional Coverage:

Seattle Police have made an arrest in connection with the June home invasion and robbery at the residence of rapper and Seattle Sounders part-owner, Macklemore. 29-year-old Patrick Maisonet was taken into custody on August 21st during a SWAT raid at his King County Valley home. While the arrest was initially related to robbery and escape charges from a separate Seattle-area break-in, charges related to the Macklemore incident are expected to be filed soon.

During the June 7th incident, two men armed with bear spray entered Macklemore’s home and stole thousands of dollars worth of personal items, including championship rings from the Seattle Seahawks and Sounders. A 22-year-old nanny, who was home with Macklemore’s three children, was assaulted with bear spray and forced to lead the burglars to the location of Macklemore’s jewelry.

She bravely fought back, biting one of the robbers and escaping to a neighbor’s house to call 911. Macklemore and his children were not present during the robbery.

The subsequent investigation, a joint effort between the Seattle Police Department, King County Sheriff’s deputies, and the Renton Police Department, led authorities to Maisonet. A search warrant executed at a south Seattle jewelry store yielded numerous stolen items, including Macklemore’s Sounders ring and another piece of his jewelry, connected to various recent burglaries. The investigation is ongoing.
