Wyoming Plane Crash Leaves One Dead, Three Hurt

Tragedy struck the Bighorn National Forest on Monday afternoon when a small plane crashed, claiming the life of a 13-year-old girl and leaving three of her relatives injured.

Around 4:57 p.m., the Sheridan Law Enforcement Center received reports of possible lost or injured individuals near Big Mountain. Subsequent reports indicated a potential plane crash in the same area. Sheridan County Sheriff’s Deputies, Sheridan Area Search and Rescue, and Wyoming Regional EMS were immediately dispatched.

An aerial search confirmed the crash west of Big Mountain. Rescue teams located a single-engine aircraft with three survivors and the deceased 13-year-old.

The surviving passengers, an 11-year-old boy, a 54-year-old man, and a 53-year-old woman, all family members, sustained serious injuries. After receiving on-site medical stabilization, they were transported by a Wyoming Army National Guard helicopter to two area hospitals.

Their current conditions remain unknown. The body of the young girl was transferred to the Sheridan County Coroner, and her identity will be released later.

Sheriff Levi Dominguez praised the exceptional coordination of the rescue efforts and offered condolences to the family. The Federal Aviation Administration is en route to the crash site to begin their investigation. The Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office has requested the public avoid the area while the investigation is underway.
