America’s Worst Sandwich Chains Revealed

Additional Coverage:

Sandwiches: A lunchtime staple, a road trip must-have. But not all sandwich chains are created equal.

Some deliver deliciousness, while others… well, let’s just say disappointment lurks. Here are a few sandwich chains you might want to skip on your next sub craving.

Subway: Subway’s quality has long been debated. The mushy bread and questionable deli meats (thick-sliced with unchewable bits) leave much to be desired. And let’s not forget the “grilled chicken” patties that taste suspiciously like they came off an assembly line.

Panera: While Panera’s menu sounds tempting, the reality often falls short. Their sandwiches are often skimpy and overpriced. You’re better off sticking with their reliable (and filling) broccoli cheddar soup in a bread bowl.

Quiznos: Remember Quiznos? The toasted sub pioneers have fallen from grace, closing locations since their 2014 bankruptcy. While their toasted subs were once novel, other chains have since surpassed them in both quality and innovation.

Blimpie: Blimpie’s longevity is a mystery. While age often implies value, that’s not the case here.

Their subs are unremarkable at best and a mess at worst. Your local deli likely offers a superior (and fresher) option.

Firehouse Subs: Steamed deli meat? It’s a controversial choice, and Firehouse Subs makes it.

The result? Soggy, wet sandwiches.

Although their hot sauce selection is extensive, it can’t save the subpar main event.

Jimmy John’s: Jimmy John’s has seen a decline in quality while their prices climb. Paying a premium for a sandwich with a few slices of chewy ham?

No thanks. Their day-old bread might be the best value here – perfect for making your own sandwiches at home.
