Pershing County Sheriff’s Office has identified the Burning Man attendee found dead over the weekend as 37-year-old Vadim Kruglov from Russia. The investigation continues as a homicide, and authorities are actively searching for a suspect.
Kruglov’s family has been notified. The initial incident occurred around 9:14 p.m. on Saturday when an attendee alerted a sheriff’s deputy to a man lying in a pool of blood at a campsite.
Responding officers found Kruglov deceased at the scene and immediately secured the area. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office’s Forensic Science Division assisted with evidence collection, and several individuals in the vicinity were interviewed.
Burning Man organizers are cooperating with the investigation and have provided public WiFi spots for attendees to communicate with family and friends. The temporary nature of Black Rock City and its imminent dismantling pose challenges for investigators, who are working quickly to gather evidence before the site is dispersed. The remote desert location, with its limited cell service and lack of widespread surveillance, further complicates the investigation.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Pershing County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Josh Nicholson at 774-273-2641.
