Applebee’s Underwhelms Family on Dinner Outing
A family of four recently visited their local Applebee’s for dinner and a movie, hoping to enjoy a casual meal. While the service was quick and the restaurant offered a variety of menu options, the overall experience left them unimpressed.
The group took advantage of the “2 for $25” deal, which included an appetizer and two entrees. However, hidden upcharges on certain items bumped the price up slightly.
The spinach and artichoke dip appetizer was described as “watery” and reminiscent of a store-bought frozen version. The mozzarella sticks, while providing a satisfying cheese pull, were considered small, especially compared to those offered at a competing chain restaurant, Chili’s.
Entrees included the Big Bangin’ Burger, grilled chicken breast, and chicken tenders. The burgers were deemed dry and overcooked, with stale buns.
The chicken tenders, while decent, lacked the crispy breading of those served at Chili’s. The grilled chicken, served with mashed potatoes and broccoli, was considered satisfactory but unremarkable.
The mashed potatoes were the highlight of the meal.
The overall cost of the meal, including drinks, came to $65. While the family agreed the food wasn’t terrible, they felt the quality didn’t justify the price, especially with the added upcharges.
The teenagers in the group expressed a preference for Chili’s, citing better value and taste. Ultimately, the family decided to return to Chili’s for their next dinner-and-movie outing.
