Princess Kate’s Hair Journey: From Blonde Back to Brunette
It appears Princess Kate’s brief foray into the world of blondes is over. After debuting progressively lighter locks over the past year, culminating in a striking golden hue last month, the Princess of Wales seems to have returned to her signature brunette shade.
The royal’s hair transformation first began in 2024, shifting to warmer honey tones, and lightening further throughout 2025. Her noticeably blonder appearance during a visit to London on September 4th drew considerable attention.
However, just days later, at the Women’s Rugby World Cup, the Princess appeared to have reverted to a darker, more familiar color. Photos from the event clearly show the return to her natural brunette.
This shift back comes after Princess Kate’s hairstylist, Sam McKnight, publicly condemned negative comments about her earlier blonde experimentation. McKnight, who also styled Princess Diana’s hair, criticized the “nasty comments” directed at the Princess, emphasizing the personal significance of a woman’s hair and highlighting the pressures faced by public figures. He also referenced the Princess’s previously disclosed cancer battle, urging the public to leave her in peace.
The Princess’s health journey included a cancer diagnosis in March 2024 and a subsequent announcement of remission in September of the same year. She described the experience as “incredibly tough” but expressed a renewed appreciation for life.
It was following this period that she began to lighten her hair. Whether the return to brunette reflects a personal choice or other factors remains unknown, but one thing is clear: Princess Kate continues to captivate, regardless of her hair color.
