Two lucky tickets, sold in Texas and Missouri, have split the massive $1.79 billion Powerball jackpot drawn Saturday night. This impressive win marks the second-largest prize in the game’s history, with a cash value of $820.6 million. Each winner will take home a cool $410.3 million before taxes, should they choose the lump-sum option.
The winning numbers were 11, 23, 44, 61, and 62, with the red Powerball number 17 and a Power Play of 2X. Powerball Product Group Chair and Iowa Lottery CEO, Matt Strawn, congratulated the winners and the respective lotteries. He emphasized that every $2 ticket sold not only offered a chance at the jackpot but also supported vital public programs and services.
Winners have the option of a lump-sum payment of $410.3 million or an annuity option of $893.5 million, paid out over 30 years with a 5% annual increase.
While two individuals snagged the grand prize, they weren’t the only winners. Eighteen other players matched all five white balls, winning $1 million each, while two more doubled their winnings to $2 million thanks to the Power Play multiplier.
The Powerball jackpot now resets to $20 million for Monday’s drawing. The odds of winning the jackpot are a staggering 1 in 292.2 million.
Powerball tickets are available in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
