Howard Stern Renews with SiriusXM After On-Air Prank

Radio icon Howard Stern announced Monday he’s staying put at SiriusXM, ending months of speculation about his future with the satellite radio giant. The announcement followed a playful on-air prank orchestrated by Andy Cohen, who jokingly claimed he was taking over Stern’s channel with a new show titled “Andy 100.”

Cohen’s faux takeover, which briefly fooled several media outlets, saw him pretending to helm Stern’s show, claiming a less-than-smooth handoff. Stern eventually joined the broadcast, thanking Cohen for the gag.

While confirming his continued partnership with SiriusXM, Stern remained tight-lipped about the specifics of his contract renewal, which is set to expire at the end of 2025. He acknowledged ongoing discussions with SiriusXM, describing them as “fantastic.” Stern originally planned to address his show’s future earlier this month but postponed due to illness.

Stern’s show has evolved significantly since its early “shock jock” days, particularly after Donald Trump’s election. He has become increasingly critical of Trump and his supporters, even expressing admiration for President Biden during a friendly interview last year. Stern also interviewed then-Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential campaign, where he voiced strong opposition to Trump’s potential reelection.
