Actor Charlie Sheen recently shared his memories of Matthew Perry, revealing the late Friends star hosted a private addiction support group that Sheen attended. Perry tragically passed away in October 2023 from a ketamine overdose.
In his upcoming memoir, The Book of Sheen, Sheen details his own struggles with addiction and describes attending Perry’s support group during the 2007 writer’s strike. He praised Perry’s ability to use humor as a coping mechanism, stating, “I’ve never met anyone who more masterfully used humor as a deflector-shield.” Sheen also reveals he met his third wife, Brooke Mueller, at a party hosted by Perry.
Sheen is also making headlines for his attempts to reconcile with former Two and a Half Men co-star Jon Cryer. The pair’s successful on-screen partnership ended with Sheen’s highly publicized firing from the show in 2011. Sheen’s new Netflix documentary, aka Charlie Sheen, explores his career highs and lows, and features interviews with both Cryer and Two and a Half Men creator Chuck Lorre.
Sheen explained to People magazine that while he didn’t personally contact Cryer to participate in the documentary due to a lack of contact information, he has since reached out to apologize and express his gratitude for Cryer’s contribution. He has yet to hear back but remains hopeful for a reconciliation.
