Get ready, Hendrix fans! A remastered version of the iconic 1967 album Axis: Bold as Love is coming soon, just in time for its 60th anniversary.
This isn’t just a remaster; it’s a treasure trove of Hendrix history, featuring four CDs packed with unreleased tracks, outtakes, demos, alternate versions, and live recordings from the original sessions. A remarkable 28 of the 40 bonus tracks have never been heard by the public.
Adding a personal touch to this release, the album art will include a drawing by a five-year-old Jimi Hendrix, chosen by his sister, Janie. She believes the colorful dragon perfectly embodies the song “Bold as Love” and its message of empowerment through the colors of the rainbow.
Originally released on December 1, 1967, Axis: Bold as Love was the Jimi Hendrix Experience’s second studio album, following their debut, Are You Experienced. Both albums achieved significant critical and commercial success, solidifying Hendrix’s status as a rock legend. The album features timeless classics such as “Little Wing,” “Up From the Skies,” and “Spanish Castle Magic.”
