Nina Dobrev and Shaun White Call It Quits After Five Years
After five years and a whirlwind romance, actress Nina Dobrev and Olympic snowboarder Shaun White have gone their separate ways. The couple, who were engaged, have reportedly made a mutual decision to end their relationship.
A source close to the pair confirmed the split to People magazine, stating that the decision, “wasn’t an easy one, but it was made with love and a deep respect for one another.”
The couple’s love story began in 2019 after a chance meeting at a Tony Robbins workshop. White later admitted he was initially unaware of Dobrev’s fame, being surprised by fan requests for photos with the “Vampire Diaries” star.
Their relationship quickly blossomed, becoming official in 2020. They moved in together amidst the COVID-19 lockdowns.
White’s eventual proposal was a charming story of persistence. After two unsuccessful attempts, he finally popped the question last October at a New York restaurant.
Dobrev was lured there under the guise of a business dinner with Vogue editor Anna Wintour, only to be met with a surprise proposal from White. At the time, the snowboarding legend shared his joy on social media, calling it the “best night of his life.”
As recently as March, Dobrev expressed to E! News her enjoyment of the engagement period, emphasizing its fleeting nature. However, recent appearances by Dobrev at the Toronto International Film Festival without her engagement ring, coupled with the removal of her engagement announcement from Instagram, signaled the relationship’s end.
