- Mötley Crue singer Vince Neil reveals he had a stroke last year: ‘I had to learn to walk again’ (nbcnews.com)
Las Vegas – Rocker Vince Neil, frontman for Mötley Crüe, recently revealed a health scare that nearly sidelined him. Neil suffered a stroke the day after Christmas 2024, losing control of the entire left side of his body. The news comes as an explanation for the band’s postponed Las Vegas residency, which was pushed from March to September 2025.
In an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Neil described waking up unable to move after feeling fine the night before. The stroke, which occurred while he slept, required extensive physical therapy.
Neil had to re-learn to walk, a feat doctors initially doubted he would achieve. Undeterred, Neil was determined to return to the stage.
The band announced the postponement in March, citing a necessary medical procedure for Neil. At the time, Neil released a statement prioritizing his health and promising a return to form for his fans.
He kept his word, performing with the band at MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston in August, before kicking off the rescheduled Las Vegas residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM on September 6th. The residency is scheduled to conclude on October 3rd.
Formed in 1981, Mötley Crüe boasts a storied career with over 100 million albums sold worldwide, multiple platinum albums, and three Grammy nominations. The band’s turbulent history was even the subject of a 2019 biopic, “The Dirt,” based on their bestselling autobiography.
