White House Press Secretary Links Utah Earthquake to Kirk Assassination

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has drawn a connection between last week’s earthquake in Utah and the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. In an Instagram story, Leavitt, a devout Christian, highlighted the earthquake’s timing and magnitude, suggesting they held biblical significance related to Kirk’s death.

Leavitt pointed out the earthquake’s 4.1 magnitude, noting that “40 represents trials” and “41 signifies a shift” in scripture. She further emphasized the time of the quake, 5:57 pm local time (7:57 pm Eastern), linking it to Acts 7:57, which describes the stoning of Saint Stephen.

“The Bible says the earth trembles when God is angry,” Leavitt wrote. “That night, as a voice was silenced, the ground groaned.”

She concluded the post with the single word, “Wow.”

The 4.1 magnitude earthquake was indeed recorded at 5:57 pm local time by a University of Utah seismograph station, just hours after Kirk was killed while speaking at Utah Valley University.

Kirk, 31, was a close ally of President Trump, his family, and numerous administration officials. He played a key role in Trump’s selection of then-Ohio Senator J.D.

Vance as his running mate. Vance, who guest-hosted Kirk’s podcast on Monday, lauded Kirk as a brilliant political operative and a dedicated patriot.

Leavitt also appeared on the podcast, remembering Kirk’s support during her unsuccessful 2022 congressional campaign. She described him as a tremendous supporter and friend, and an inspiration to her as a young conservative woman.
