Tragedy struck Universal’s Epic Universe theme park Wednesday night when a visitor became unresponsive on the Stardust Racers roller coaster. Park officials confirmed the individual was transported to a local hospital after the ride was stopped but was later pronounced dead. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
Universal Orlando Resorts issued a statement expressing their devastation and offering condolences to the family and loved ones. They pledged full cooperation with the ongoing investigation, which is being handled by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s office has not yet released any details about the investigation.
As a precautionary measure, the Stardust Racers ride will remain closed pending the outcome of the investigation.
