- California man, 64, arrested after shots fired at ABC10 station in Sacramento with staff inside (themirror.com)
Sacramento Police have arrested a man suspected of opening fire on the ABC10 television station building earlier this week. 64-year-old Anibal Hernandezsantana was taken into custody early Saturday morning at his residence on Carlson Drive. Police tracked him there after locating a suspicious vehicle.
The arrest follows a Tuesday afternoon incident where shots were fired at the station, striking the building at least three times. While the building was occupied at the time, no injuries were reported.
Investigators are still trying to determine a motive and haven’t ruled out the possibility of the shooting being random. The incident occurred as protestors gathered outside the station, demonstrating against ABC’s decision to pull Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show. However, police have not yet linked the two events.
The FBI is assisting Sacramento PD with the investigation. Hernandezsantana faces charges including negligent discharge of a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon, and shooting into an occupied building.
He is currently being held in Sacramento County Jail. Authorities urge anyone with information about the shooting to contact Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers or the Sacramento Police Department.
