Fashion icon Twiggy, born Lesley Lawson, recently celebrated her 76th birthday with loved ones. The former supermodel, best known for her iconic pixie cut and influence on 1960s fashion, shared photos of her celebration on social media.
While Twiggy’s pixie cut became a defining look of the era, she revealed in a 2020 podcast interview that she initially hesitated to get the drastic chop. During an appearance on Jessie Ware’s Table Manners, Twiggy explained that stylist Leonard Lewis proposed the cut during a salon appointment.
Although apprehensive, Twiggy felt too shy to decline. The following day, she spent seven hours in the salon undergoing the transformation.
