Roseanne Barr Criticizes ABC for “Double Standard” in Kimmel’s Return
Comedian Roseanne Barr has spoken out against ABC, accusing the network of double standards following the return of Jimmy Kimmel Live! after a brief hiatus. In a recent interview, Barr expressed her frustration over the network’s decision to reinstate Kimmel’s show, contrasting it with the abrupt cancellation of her Roseanne reboot in 2018.
Barr’s show was canceled following controversial tweets about Valerie Jarrett, a former senior advisor to President Barack Obama. The comedian maintains that her comments, which compared Jarrett to the “Muslim Brotherhood & Planet of the Apes,” were misconstrued.
“I got my whole life ruined,” Barr stated, claiming she was labeled a racist and had her work stolen. She believes the network’s differing responses to her situation and Kimmel’s highlight a clear double standard.
The comedian further criticized Kimmel, sarcastically remarking about his viewership and suggesting his return was a victory “against Trump and the people of the United States.” Barr, a vocal supporter of former President Trump, also lamented being “erased from history,” particularly from the history of feminism and pioneering women in media.
