Documents released Friday by Democrats on the House Oversight Committee, stemming from the estate of the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, reportedly include scheduling notes mentioning high-profile individuals such as Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Peter Thiel, and Steve Bannon.
The six pages of excerpts, part of a larger tranche of subpoenaed documents, appear to detail Epstein’s daily activities, ranging from routine appointments like haircuts and dental cleanings to proposed meetings with some of the world’s most influential figures.
One entry, dated Saturday, December 6, 2014, for Epstein’s Zorro Ranch in New Mexico, contained a cryptic note: “Reminder: Elon Musk to island Dec. 6 (is this still happening?).” This surfaced after Musk publicly stated in 2019 that Epstein “repeatedly tried to get me to visit his island” but that he declined.
Epstein’s vast property in the U.S. Virgin Islands has been central to allegations of sexual abuse, with his estate settling a civil sex-trafficking case for $105 million in 2022.
Earlier this year, Musk also publicly blamed then-President Donald Trump for not releasing documents related to Epstein, claiming the former president was implicated within them.
Another document, dated December 5, 2014, the day before the Musk entry, indicates a “TBD TENTATIVE BREAKFAST Party w/Bill Gates.” At the time, Gates had recently stepped down as CEO of Microsoft. The note also suggested invitations were extended to Ron Baron and Josh Harris, with their attendance status pending.
Further entries show a scheduled noon lunch with investor Peter Thiel in New York on Monday, November 27, 2017. Additionally, a 7 a.m. breakfast with Steve Bannon in New York was noted for a date just months before Epstein’s death.
It is important to note that the veracity of these scheduled meetings actually occurring has not been independently verified. Representatives for Musk, Gates, Thiel, and Bannon have not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the newly released documents. House Democrats did not include scheduling notes from subsequent days following the Musk entry.
