Music icon Bruce Springsteen is slated to make a highly anticipated appearance on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! next week, marking his first time on the show since 2019. Springsteen will join actor Jeremy Allen White to promote his upcoming biographical film, Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere.
The film features White portraying a young Bruce Springsteen, alongside recent Emmy winner Stephen Graham, who plays the performer’s father. Portions of the movie were filmed in Springsteen’s native New Jersey, utilizing various locations across the state. Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere is scheduled for release on Friday, October 24.
Springsteen, 76, and White, 33, will tape their segment with Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday, October 2. The episode is being recorded at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in Brooklyn and will also feature performances by rock group Living Colour and vocalist Ivan Neville.
Springsteen’s appearance comes as host Jimmy Kimmel recently returned to the airwaves after a brief suspension. Kimmel was removed from ABC’s schedule on September 17 following remarks he made about murdered activist Charlie Kirk during his September 15 broadcast.
Kimmel’s return was announced on Monday, September 22. A statement from *Jimmy Kimmel Live!
- explained the decision: “Last Wednesday, we decided to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country. We made this decision because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive.”
The statement added that “thoughtful conversations with Jimmy” led to the decision to resume the show.
During his September 15 monologue, Kimmel had made comments regarding Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old suspect in Kirk’s murder. He stated, “We had some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and with everything they can to score political points from it.”
Upon his emotional return, Kimmel addressed the controversy, saying, “This show is not important. What is important is that we get to live in a country that allows us to have a show like this.
You understand that it was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man. I don’t think there’s anything funny about it.”
The upcoming schedule for the show includes the following notable guests:
- Monday, Sept. 29: Ryan Reynolds, Josh Johnson, Public Enemy
- Tuesday, Sept. 30: Stephen Colbert, Kumail Nanjiani, ReneeĢ Rapp
