Sarah Jessica Parker Honors Beloved Co-Star Diane Keaton in Heartfelt Tribute

Sarah Jessica Parker has paid a poignant tribute to her longtime friend and co-star, Diane Keaton, following the beloved movie legend’s passing at age 79 on October 11, 2025. Tributes have been pouring in for the iconic actress, and Parker, 60, shared a lengthy and emotional message on Instagram on October 12.

Accompanying a throwback photo of Keaton, Parker’s caption reflected on the profound impact Keaton had on her and countless others. “Diane Keaton has been a point of inspiration for countless actresses,” Parker wrote. “I include myself among those who loved and admired her.”

Parker, who collaborated with Keaton on two films, expressed deep gratitude for their time together. “I was very privileged to witness her singular skill and talent on both First Wives Club and The Family Stone,” she continued.

“I will cherish those memories on set as well her touching, delightful, and perfectly own cinematic career. Which is a gorgeous legacy of an exquisite person.

She will be terribly missed,” Parker concluded, adding a personal note, “RIP and Godspeed, you glorious creature. X, SJ.”

This intimate Instagram post followed a similar statement Parker issued to Variety earlier that day regarding Keaton’s death.

The two acclaimed actresses first shared the screen in the 1996 hit comedy The First Wives Club. Keaton portrayed the anxious Annie MacDuggan-Paradis, while Parker played Shelly Stewart, the manipulative fiancée of Brenda’s (Bette Midler) ex-husband, Morty (Dan Hedaya).

They reunited nearly a decade later for the 2005 holiday film, The Family Stone. In the romantic comedy-drama, Keaton took on the role of matriarch Sybil Stone, with Parker cast as Meredith Morton, the uptight girlfriend of Sybil’s son (Dermot Mulroney).

Beyond their on-screen collaborations, Parker revealed a deeper bond formed during the filming of The Family Stone. In a 2018 interview, Parker recounted sharing a dressing room trailer with Keaton, an experience that fostered a unique intimacy.

Keaton herself reflected on their time, telling an Australian publication, “She had to room with me. We were roommates.

By that I mean we were in the makeup trailer every morning at five.” Parker echoed this sentiment, stating, “We were put in a trailer by ourselves, the two of us, for hair and makeup, which is a pretty intimate experience.”

She added, “I feel like there’s so much that we love talking about. We could talk non-stop easily about everything in the world.

And Diane is interested in everything in the world.”

Parker also shared in an interview that despite “the privilege of getting ready for work every day with Diane,” she consciously avoided discussing her passion for fashion. She admitted she wanted the iconic actress to perceive her as an “intellectual.”
