Simon and Yasmin Le Bon Mark Four Decades of Marriage, Embrace Grandparent Life
Duran Duran frontman Simon Le Bon, 66, and his wife of 40 years, Yasmin Le Bon, continue to prove that their bond is as strong as ever. The iconic couple recently stepped out in London, radiating the same charm they did when they married in 1985.
The pair attended the unveiling of Frida Giovanni’s HYPERNOVA 150 at Liberty London, celebrating the department store’s 150th anniversary. Simon, known for hits like “Hungry Like the Wolf” and “Rio,” caught the camera’s eye in a chic emerald green suit over a black shirt, while Yasmin made a striking statement in a Union Jack suit complemented by white platform sandals.
No Vow Renewal on the Horizon
Despite their impressive four-decade milestone, a vow renewal ceremony isn’t on the cards for the Le Bons anytime soon. Yasmin candidly revealed in a past interview that the thought of organizing such an event held little appeal.
“We thought about that years ago, but now I honestly don’t think I could be bothered to organize a party. It would just be an ad hoc kind of thing, and we couldn’t be a——-,” she shared with The Sun. “I think part of the reason that we’re still together is because we had a ramshackle wedding anyway.”
“The Glamfather” and a Growing Grandfamily
Beyond their enduring marriage, Simon and Yasmin are fully embracing their roles as grandparents. Simon famously announced his new status in 2018 with an enthusiastic social media post proclaiming, “THE GLAMFATHER!”
The couple’s middle daughter, Saffron, is mother to two sons, Taro and Skye. This year, their youngest daughter, Amber, welcomed her own son, Sasha. Amber chose a touching tribute to her family history by sharing photos of Sasha in a well-known lifestyle publication, the same one that announced her own birth 35 years prior.
“I love looking back at those photos with Mama and Daddy and I wanted Sasha to have something like that,” Amber explained. “It’s like a lovely snapshot of our little family and it feels like we’ve gone full circle and closed the loop.”
Amber playfully noted her parents’ surprise at the shift from a household of three daughters to being “overwhelmingly outnumbered by boys” in the next generation. She also praised the hands-on support from both sets of grandparents, adding, “Both my parents and Ben’s have been amazing and hands-on; we’ve had so much help. Staying here has worked out perfectly because it takes that little bit of pressure off the day-to-day running of things, so that we get to kind of fall into being parents.”
