Death Investigation Underway After Mitt Romney’s Sister-in-Law Found Deceased in Santa Clarita

SANTA CLARITA, CA – Authorities are conducting a death investigation after Carrie Romney, 64, of Valencia, and sister-in-law to former presidential candidate Mitt Romney, was found deceased Friday evening in the Town Center area of Santa Clarita. Her body was discovered next to a parking garage, officials confirmed.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation into Romney’s death. The Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office has listed her cause of death as “deferred,” pending the results of toxicology tests.

Sources familiar with the preliminary information indicate that she may have either jumped or fallen from the parking structure. However, investigators are awaiting an official determination from the medical examiner.

Mitt Romney, the deceased’s brother-in-law, is a well-known political figure. He sought the Republican presidential nomination in 2008 and secured it in 2012, ultimately losing the general election to then-President Barack Obama.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.

This is a developing story. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
