From “GMA” Scandal to “I Do”: TJ Holmes and Amy Robach Announce Engagement
The former “Good Morning America” co-anchors, T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach, who found themselves at the center of a media firestorm in late 2022, are officially engaged. The couple shared the news on their “Amy & T.J.” podcast on Tuesday, revealing they’ve been engaged for a month.
“We are sharing with all of you that we are engaged and we’ve been engaged for a month now,” said Robach, 52, on the podcast. Holmes, 48, added, “We’re actually surprised we’re just now talking about it.
We wanted to let you all know before anybody was able to. We learned that lesson I guess in the past about our relationship: We want to be the first to talk about it.”
Their relationship first made headlines in December 2022, when reports surfaced that the co-anchors, both then married, were involved in a months-long affair. Holmes and Robach, who began their tenures at ABC News in 2014, co-hosted “GMA3: What You Need to Know” starting in 2020 and were known for their engaging on-screen dynamic.
The fallout from the affair led to ABC benching both anchors, and ultimately, a parting of ways with ABC News. A representative for the news division stated at the time, “We all agreed it’s best for everyone that they move on from ABC News.”
Since then, both have moved forward, with ABC filling their former positions. Holmes and Robach made their relationship Instagram official, and interestingly, their respective ex-spouses also reportedly found comfort and companionship in their shared experiences.
In December 2023, the couple broke their silence publicly on their podcast, reflecting on what they termed their “year of hell.” They discussed the emotional impact of the scandal and their decision to disclose their relationship on their own terms, after various outlets had already reported on it.
During their podcast debut, Robach emphasized the strength of their bond, stating, “We have had each other through it all. It has been the most beautiful relationship I have had in my life.”
