Ford Issues Major Recall for Nearly 750,000 Vehicles Over Safety Concerns
Ford Motor Company is recalling close to 750,000 vehicles across the U.S. due to a range of issues, including problems with rearview camera displays, steering components, and seatbelt functionality. These recalls, announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), impact several popular models.
Rearview Camera Display Malfunction Affects Over 290,000 Vehicles
More than 290,000 Ford vehicles are being recalled for a rearview camera display issue. According to the NHTSA’s October 10 recall notice, the 360-degree camera system in certain 2020-2022 F-250 SD, F-350 SD, and F-450 SD models may not properly display rearview images under specific lighting conditions. This malfunction can hinder a driver’s ability to see behind their vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of an accident.
Ford dealerships will update the image processing module software, which is the root cause of the problem, free of charge. Owners can reference Ford recall number 25SA8 and NHTSA recall number 25V-686. This marks Ford’s third rearview camera-related recall this year, following recalls in May for nearly 1.1 million vehicles and in July for over 200,000 vehicles, both for similar software-related camera malfunctions.
Steering Column Defect Prompts Recall of 115,000 Super Duty Trucks
Ford is also recalling 115,539 Super Duty trucks due to a potential steering issue. The NHTSA’s September 23 notice indicates that the steering column upper shaft in these vehicles could detach from the steering column, leading to a loss of steering control and an increased risk of a crash.
This recall affects certain 2020-2021 F-250 SD, F-350 SD, and F-450 SD models. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, repair or replace the upper shaft of the steering column at no cost to the owner.
Initial notification letters to owners regarding this safety risk were mailed on October 6, 2025. A final remedy is anticipated to be available in December 2025, with additional owner letters to follow.
The Ford recall number is 25S94, and the NHTSA number is 25V-626.
Seatbelt Cable Corrosion Impacts Over 330,000 Mustang Models
An additional recall impacts 332,778 Ford vehicles over a seatbelt issue. According to the NHTSA’s September 12 notice, a corroded cable can break, preventing the seatbelt from properly restraining its wearer and increasing the risk of injury in a crash. This corrosion can occur when the cable comes into contact with water and road salt, impeding the seatbelt’s function.
This recall involves certain 2015-2017 Mustang models. Dealers will inspect and replace the front seatbelt cables to ensure proper safety, free of charge.
Owners can expect to be notified of this safety risk this month, with remedy letters anticipated in January once a final solution is in place. The Ford recall number is 25S92, and the NHTSA number is 25V-614.
