Carrie Underwood Dazzles at Grand Ole Opry, Honors Late Songwriter Brett James
Nashville’s own country music superstar, Carrie Underwood, once again captivated audiences with her stunning style and powerful vocals at the Grand Ole Opry’s 100th Birthday Show on Friday, October 25. The acclaimed singer joined a star-studded lineup that included Junior Brown, T. Graham Brown, Preston Cooper, Charles Esten, Don Schlitz, and Connie Smith, delivering a memorable performance while showcasing her signature flair.
Underwood stepped onto the iconic stage in a vibrant blue floral mini dress, drawing immediate praise from fans for both her fashion choice and remarkably toned physique. Social media was abuzz with compliments, with one fan exclaiming, “This hair color is everything,” and another adding, “Yesssss love the whole vibe.”
Many simply raved, “That hair. That dress.
GORGEOUS.”
Beyond her dazzling appearance, Underwood’s performance carried a poignant tribute to the late songwriter Brett James. James, along with his wife and stepdaughter, tragically passed away in a recent plane crash. Underwood shared her deep appreciation for the artist, stating, “I’m blessed to have known him, and I get the gift of singing his words and melodies for the rest of my life.”
The Grammy-winner also announced plans to honor James throughout the month on her SiriusXM show, Carrie’s Countdown. In a tearful announcement, she explained, “I choose to make this countdown about remembering Brett James because I feel like it’s healing, it is celebratory and it’s fitting.”
She further reflected on his legacy, adding, “He’s going to be missed so much by anybody that knew him. It’s going to be weird writing and not having him on the schedule but hopefully we can take everything we have learned from Brett with us and continue to write amazing songs.”
Brett James, an Opry member himself, was a prolific songwriter with an astounding 27 No. 1 hits to his credit, penned for a diverse roster of top artists. His collaborative work with Underwood includes iconic tracks like “Jesus Take the Wheel,” “Cowboy Casanova,” and “Something in the Water.” His impressive songwriting catalog also features:
- “Who I Am” – Jessica Andrews (co-written with Troy Verges)
- “Blessed” – Martina McBride (co-written with Hillary Lindsey and Troy Verges)
- “The Truth” – Jason Aldean (co-written with Ashley Monroe)
- “It’s America” – Rodney Atkins (co-written with Angelo Petraglia)
- “I Hold On” – Dierks Bentley (co-written with Dierks Bentley)
Underwood is scheduled to continue her performances at the Grand Ole Opry this weekend for the “Opry Goes Pink” shows, dedicated to raising awareness and support for breast cancer research.
