Protester Arrested Amidst Ongoing ICE Facility Demonstrations in Portland
Portland, OR – A protestor was taken into custody on Saturday during ongoing demonstrations outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Portland. The arrest reportedly occurred after a demonstrator was pulled across a designated “Do Not Block” line.
Video footage, just over a minute in length, circulated online depicting law enforcement officials engaging with a woman before she was seen being moved across the blue line painted on the property. Following the incident, nearly a dozen law enforcement personnel were observed surrounding the protestors.
The Portland Police Bureau confirmed to Fox News Digital that two arrests were made in connection with Saturday’s protests. A spokesperson stated, “PPB has arrested two people for crimes committed today.
I do not have names or charges yet. The officers haven’t even transported them back to the precinct yet, so it will be a while.”
The bureau also noted, “As we have every night for many weeks, PPB continues to monitor the area for criminal behavior.”
According to organizers, Saturday’s protest aimed to “demand the revoking of ICE’s permit to operate out of the facility” situated in what is largely a residential neighborhood.
Protests outside the Portland ICE facility have become a frequent occurrence in recent weeks, with activists expressing opposition to detentions and deportations. The facility has also been a central point for months of demonstrations against the Trump administration’s immigration policies. Last month, President Donald Trump announced intentions to deploy the Oregon National Guard to Portland specifically to protect the ICE facility from protestors.
Demonstrators, often gathered under pop-up tents and umbrellas, were heard chanting, “We have no choice, we have no fear,” and “ICE is not welcome here.”
