Kelsey Grammer Welcomes Eighth Child, Reflects on Fatherhood and Faith
Actor Kelsey Grammer, beloved for his iconic role as Dr. Frasier Crane, has expanded his family once again, welcoming his eighth child, a son named Christopher, with wife Kayte Walsh. Grammer shared the happy news during an appearance on the “Pod Meets World” podcast, hosted by Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle, and Rider Strong.
Christopher is the fourth child for Grammer and Walsh, joining siblings Faith, 12; Gabriel, 10; and James, 8. Grammer is also father to Spencer, 41 (with Doreen Alderman); Greer, 33 (with Barrie Buckner); and Mason, 23, and Jude, 20 (with ex-wife Camille Grammer).
In a 2018 interview with Closer Weekly, Grammer expressed his joy in raising his younger children, stating, “It’s fantastic, the energy is magnificent. I’m as young as they are.” He praised his wife, Kayte, for her “pristine and extraordinary ability to love,” and her enjoyment of pregnancy and motherhood.
Reflecting on his journey as a father, Grammer acknowledged in a May interview with People that his career may have led him to “neglect” some of his older children when they were younger. “I’m trying to make up for a little of it now,” he shared.
“I’m still their dad, so you can always have [a] chance to show up.” He also noted a shift in his parenting style, emphasizing clarity and preparedness with his younger children.
“I’m a little more specific with them about doing their studies and being prepared. [I tell them], ‘What’s your job in life?
Showing up.'”
Earlier this year, Grammer, who recently penned the memoir “Karen: A Brother Remembers” in tribute to his late sister, spoke with Fox News Digital about the profound role faith plays in his life. He openly discussed moments of profound loss, including the murders of his sister and father, and the deaths of his two brothers, which challenged his faith.
“When the deaths occurred… hanging on to what I’d always seen as a kind of gift of faith, became… hollow faith,” Grammer explained. “It wasn’t working.
I thought, ‘Why did I lose this? What happened?’
I felt betrayed by it.” He admitted to momentarily turning away from God during his darkest times, but now encourages others to do the opposite.
“I would advise people to step away from that. If I could, I would say, rather than turn away from God, turn toward Him in these situations,” he advised.
Grammer revealed that writing his memoir, coupled with meeting and building a life with Kayte, has significantly strengthened his faith. “By virtue of writing this book, [my faith] has gained a little ground. By virtue of meeting Kayte, by virtue of living through what we’ve lived through as well, has fortified my faith,” he concluded.
