- Megyn Kelly praises Gavin Newsom for his looks – ‘You can’t take that away from him’ (irishstar.com)
Megyn Kelly has never shied away from voicing her disagreements with California Governor Gavin Newsom, but she recently made an unexpected admission: the Democrat politician is, in her words, “good-looking, and you can’t take that away from him.”
Newsom, widely considered a strong contender for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028, is known for his active presence on social media, often engaging in playful jabs at former President Donald Trump. His recent online activity included sharing a clip from Kelly’s web show, which he used to highlight his belief that “Trump’s base is splintering.”
The clip in question featured Kelly, 54, criticizing Trump’s past use of the National Guard in American cities, stating, “You can’t just send the National Guard into random cities…It very clearly is not constitutionally permissible. He cannot do it.”
In response to Newsom’s tweet, Kelly suggested that instead of “tweeting about me,” the governor “should be thrilled to receive President Trump’s offer” to “help” with California’s “crime problem.” She also weighed in on Newsom’s social media strategy, which sometimes mimics Trump’s all-caps posts on Truth Social.
Kelly dismissed these tactics, saying, “It doesn’t work. It’s not clever.”
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Kelly elaborated, “The reason it works for Trump is it’s Trump, it’s authentic to him, it’s original, it’s funny, Trump’s funny. Just trying to imitate somebody, it’s not interesting.
Maybe it makes him feel good because he gets a few more clicks.” However, she concluded that this technique “does not move the needle for him at all.”
Despite her political differences, Kelly offered an unexpected compliment to Newsom, 58, acknowledging his physical attractiveness. “He’s got the right hair.
He’s tall. People like handsome politicians and, though I’m not a Gavin Newsom fan, you can’t take that away from him, he’s a good-looking guy.”
She further noted, “He’s been trying to train himself with his podcast and he’s a far-left man who could get through the Democrat primary.”
In the same interview, Kelly expressed her admiration for Trump’s performance during the first ten months of his second term, stating she believes he is “doing great.” “He’s fighting every step of the way and winning,” she said. “I love it, it’s great, he is a fighter, he’s never going to roll over, that’s important, a lesser man would have.”
Looking ahead to the 2028 presidential election, Kelly shared her “dream” candidates, suggesting Vice President JD Vance and Marco Rubio. “I think it’s going to be JD Vance.
And my prayer is that his running mate is Marco Rubio. I think they’ll clean up, those two together.
I think that’s a dream ticket.”
Earlier this week, Newsom’s office was quick to mock Trump after a televised Oval Office event, where the former president appeared to doze off during an announcement about reducing the cost of weight loss drugs. Dr. Mehmet Oz, administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, was speaking about the benefits, including how “people can sleep again because they can breathe when they go to bed,” when viewers noticed Trump resting his eyes.
As Dr. Oz continued to detail how the drugs could help with “Folks whose knees don’t hurt, people don’t have heart attacks, renal failure, dementia, all the things we know are associated with obesity and much more,” Trump was seen slumped in his chair with his eyes closed.
Newsom’s office swiftly capitalized on the moment, posting “DOZY DON IS BACK!” alongside a clip and an image of the seemingly sleeping former president.
