Kim K’s Legal Dreams Still on Hold After Latest Bar Exam Attempt
Reality TV star and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian will have to hit the books once again, as she did not pass the latest California bar exam. The results, announced Friday by the State Bar of California, showed a 54.8% pass rate for the July exam, a benchmark Kardashian unfortunately did not meet.
Despite this setback, Kardashian remains steadfast in her ambition to become a lawyer. “Six years into this law journey, and I’m still all in until I pass the bar,” the 45-year-old shared in an Instagram story post. “No shortcuts, no giving up – just more studying and even more determination.”
The news comes just days after the premiere of “All’s Fair,” a new Hulu series by Ryan Murphy, where Kardashian ironically portrays a stylish divorce attorney. “I’m not a lawyer yet, I just play a very well-dressed one on TV,” she quipped in her post.
Kardashian has long expressed her desire to follow in the legal footsteps of her late father, Robert Kardashian Sr. Her interest in law was notably sparked after her successful advocacy for Alice Marie Johnson’s release from prison in 2018.
Kardashian stated she was “so close” to passing this recent exam. She was among 7,362 applicants who took the July test, one of two opportunities offered annually to obtain a license to practice law in California. This year’s pass rate is consistent with the 53.8% who passed in July 2024.
Earlier this year, the California bar exam faced scrutiny over testing software glitches and AI-assisted multiple-choice questions, leading to recommended score adjustments for February test-takers.
This isn’t Kardashian’s first experience with the rigorous nature of legal examinations. In December 2021, she announced she had passed her first-year law exam, often referred to as the “baby bar,” after three prior attempts. Kardashian emphasized that this latest failure only fuels her determination to achieve her goal.
