Sarah Jessica Parker to Receive Prestigious Carol Burnett Award at Golden Globes “Golden Eve” Special

Los Angeles, CA – Adding another significant accolade to her impressive career, six-time Golden Globe winner Sarah Jessica Parker is slated to receive the 2026 Carol Burnett Award for excellence in television. This esteemed honor will be presented to Parker during the inaugural “Golden Eve” special, set to air on January 8th on CBS and stream concurrently on Paramount+.

The Carol Burnett Award, named after its first recipient, recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to television. This announcement follows the Golden Globes’ earlier reveal that Helen Mirren will be honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the main January ceremony, kicking off a celebratory “Golden Week” for the awards season.

Helen Hoehne, President of the Golden Globes, lauded Parker’s impact in a press release on Thursday, stating, “Sarah Jessica Parker’s career embodies the very spirit of the Carol Burnett Award. Her trailblazing impact on television and her dedication to storytelling across stage and screen have left an indelible mark on popular culture. We are honored to celebrate her extraordinary contributions to entertainment.”

Parker, widely celebrated for her iconic portrayal of Carrie Bradshaw in “Sex and the City” – a role she recently reprised in the HBO sequel “And Just Like That” – has also garnered Golden Globe nominations for her work in the 2005 film “The Family Stone” and the HBO drama series “Divorce.”

Beyond her acting prowess, Parker is a force behind the scenes. She co-founded Pretty Matches Productions with Alison Benson, a company known for its commitment to hiring more women in both on- and off-camera capacities, notably exceeding industry mandates on projects like “Divorce.”

Furthermore, Parker founded SJP Lit, an imprint under independent publisher Zando, which has brought forth acclaimed titles such as Mai Sennaar’s “They Dream in Gold” and Alina Grabowski’s “Women and Children First.” Her recent service on the judging panel for the 2025 Booker Prize further underscores her diverse engagement in the arts.

Past recipients of the Carol Burnett Award include Ted Danson (2024), Ryan Murphy (2023), and Norman Lear (2021).

Comedian Nikki Glaser will return to host the 83rd annual Golden Globes ceremony, which will be broadcast on January 11th on CBS and available for streaming on Paramount+.
