Multiple Officers Shot in Osage County Domestic Violence Incident; Suspect Deceased
OSAGE COUNTY, KS – The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) has launched an investigation following a shooting Saturday morning in Osage County that left multiple law enforcement officers wounded and the male suspect dead.
According to KBI officials, the incident unfolded around 10:30 a.m. at a residence north of Carbondale. Deputies and troopers had been at the home for several minutes in response to a domestic violence call when gunfire erupted.
Three Osage County sheriff’s deputies and one Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) trooper sustained injuries in the shooting. The male suspect was killed at the scene. Another man present at the home was also injured but is reported to be in stable condition.
Colonel Erik Smith stated at a Saturday news conference that the three deputies and the trooper were initially transported to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. The trooper was subsequently transferred to a Kansas City hospital for additional medical attention.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased suspect.
The public is assured there is no ongoing threat. The Topeka Police Department (TPD) confirmed via social media that its officers provided assistance at the scene, and none of them were injured.
Both the TPD and KHP directed inquiries to the KBI, which did not immediately provide further details. This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
