Jeep’s All-Electric Recon Finally Rolling Out Next Year, After Some Detours

Jeep enthusiasts, mark your calendars! After a few bumps in the road, the highly anticipated all-electric 2026 Jeep Recon is set to begin production “early next year.” This news comes three years after the rugged EV’s initial announcement, following multiple delays that left fans wondering about its arrival.

Built on a dedicated electric vehicle architecture, the Recon promises serious power, boasting an impressive 650 horsepower and 620 ft-lb of torque. Its 100kWh battery pack is estimated to deliver a range of 250 miles on a full charge, and for those who love a quick start, it can go from 0-60 mph in a blistering 3.6 seconds.

What truly sets the Recon apart is its claim as the industry’s first and only fully electric Trail Rated SUV. This coveted badge signifies that the Recon meets Jeep’s stringent internal standards for traction, water fording, maneuverability, articulation, and ground clearance – essentially, it’s ready to conquer the wild. Bolstered by its 4X4 capability and 33-inch tires, this EV is designed to tackle a wide variety of challenging terrains.

The journey to production hasn’t been without its twists and turns. The Recon was initially slated for a 2024 release, with a prototype sighting being the closest we got to the real deal by the end of that year. Just last month, Jeep CEO Bob Broderdorf indicated a “next spring” arrival in showrooms, though the company’s official site, which may be due for an update, still lists it as “coming late 2025.”

It’s also worth noting that Jeep has experienced some recent challenges with its hybrid models. Both the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler hybrid versions were subject to recalls this year, affecting over 375,000 vehicles due to fire risks in their batteries. This followed a similar recall for Jeep hybrids the previous year, impacting 194,000 vehicles, also for fire-related concerns.

Despite these past issues, the excitement for the all-electric Recon remains high. The EV will have a starting MSRP of $65,000, with production slated for the Toluca Assembly Plant in Mexico. Get ready to hit the trails, silently and powerfully!
