Honda is issuing a recall for over a quarter-million vehicles due to a software glitch that could lead to a sudden loss of power while driving. This issue, identified by federal regulators, raises concerns about an increased risk of crashes.
The recall specifically targets 256,603 Honda Accord Hybrid vehicles from model years 2023-2025. According to a notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on November 17, the problem lies with the vehicles’ internal software, which has the potential to reset unexpectedly during operation.
Honda dealerships will address this defect by reprogramming the software at no cost to owners. The automaker plans to send notification letters to affected owners starting January 5, 2026.
For immediate inquiries, owners can contact Honda’s customer service at 1-888-234-2138, referencing recall number TN2. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) included in this recall will be searchable on the NHTSA website beginning November 18.
This latest recall follows a series of recent issues for Honda. Earlier this month, the company recalled over 406,000 vehicles for a separate defect that could cause wheels to detach. In June, more than 259,000 vehicles in the U.S. were recalled due to a potential brake pedal defect.
