Kevin Spacey Clears the Air: Not Homeless, Just “Going Where the Work Is”

Actor Kevin Spacey, 66, has taken to social media to quell recent speculation regarding his housing situation, assuring concerned fans that he is not, in fact, homeless. The clarification comes after an interview where Spacey described a transient lifestyle, leading to an outpouring of public concern.

On Sunday, Spacey posted a video addressing what he called a “flood of public concern.” “Thousands of people have reached out over the past few days offering me a place to stay or have just asked if I’m okay,” Spacey stated, expressing his gratitude for the “truly touched by your generosity.”

The confusion stemmed from a recent interview with The Telegraph, where Spacey mentioned losing his house and living in short-term rentals. “I’m living in hotels, I’m living in Airbnbs, I’m going where the work is,” he told the outlet. “I literally have no home, that’s what I’m attempting to explain.”

In his video, Spacey clarified that he was simply detailing a work-related, mobile existence, not a dire housing crisis. “I feel it would be disingenuous to allow you to believe I am indeed homeless in the colloquial sense,” he explained. He likened his current living arrangement to his early career days, stating, “I said I was basically living in hotels and Airbnbs and going where the work is, just as I did when I first started out in this business.”

Spacey also highlighted his recent professional activity, noting, “I’ve been working nearly nonstop this entire year and, for that, I have so much to be grateful for.” He acknowledged the plight of those truly experiencing homelessness, extending his empathy: “There are many people, as we all know, who are indeed actually living on the streets or in their cars or are in terrible financial situations, and my heart goes out to them.”

The Telegraph interview also touched upon Spacey’s financial pressures in recent years. “The costs over these last seven years have been astronomical.

I’ve had very little coming in and everything going out,” he shared. He added that his belongings are currently in storage, expressing hope that “if things continue to improve, that I’ll be able to decide where I want to settle down again.”

When asked about his current financial state, Spacey admitted, “Not great,” but emphasized he has not filed for bankruptcy.

Spacey’s career has faced significant challenges since 2017, when multiple allegations of misconduct emerged, which he has consistently denied. These accusations led to his departure from the Netflix series House of Cards. In 2023, a London court acquitted him of all charges related to sexual assault allegations from four men.

Earlier this month, Spacey performed a “Songs & Stories” event at a luxury resort in Cyprus, which reportedly included live music, career anecdotes, and a VIP package priced at £1,100 (approximately $1,440).
