Shark Attack Claims Life, Critically Injures Another on Australian Coast

Crowdy Bay, NSW – Tragedy struck off the Australian east coast Thursday morning when a shark attack resulted in one fatality and left another individual in critical condition.

Emergency services were dispatched to a beach in Crowdy Bay, approximately 224 miles north of Sydney, around 6:30 a.m. following reports of two people in their twenties being bitten. Witnesses provided initial assistance before paramedics arrived on the scene. Despite their efforts, the woman succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the beach.

The male victim sustained “serious injuries” and was airlifted to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Authorities have not yet released details regarding the circumstances of the attack. Police are coordinating with experts to identify the species of shark involved.

Following the incident, the beach within Crowdy Bay National Park, a popular destination known for its camping, fishing, and hiking, has been closed to swimmers. This latest attack comes just months after a similar incident in September, where a man in his 50s was fatally mauled by a shark off a Sydney beach.
