R&B artist Ray J, whose legal name is Willie Norwood, found himself in a bit of a bind early Thanksgiving morning, according to law enforcement officials and jail records. The 44-year-old singer was taken into custody on suspicion of making criminal threats.
Captain Mike Bland of the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed Norwood’s arrest, which occurred around 4 a.m. Officers from the LAPD’s Devonshire Division, which covers areas of the San Fernando Valley like Chatsworth and Northridge, made the arrest. Specific details surrounding the incident or the exact location of the arrest were not immediately available.
Norwood was released a few hours later after posting a $50,000 bond, as indicated by jail records.
Best known for his hit songs “One Wish” and “Sexy Can I,” Norwood is also the younger brother of acclaimed actress and singer Brandy. He made headlines in October when he was sued for defamation by his former girlfriend, Kim Kardashian, following comments he made in a TMZ documentary.
Norwood is currently married to actress and producer Princess Love Norwood, with whom he shares two children. The couple, who famously appeared together on the reality show “Love & Hip Hop” and were known for their often tumultuous relationship, are reportedly in the process of divorcing.
