David Byrne Brings His Unique Sound to NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert

Music icon David Byrne, known for his groundbreaking work with the Talking Heads, recently graced NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert series with a captivating performance that aired Monday.

Byrne, joined by a dozen musicians all clad in matching blue uniforms, delivered a 20-minute set that blended new material with beloved classics. The ensemble performed “Everybody Laughs” and “Don’t Be Like That” from Byrne’s September album, Who is the Sky?, alongside Talking Heads favorites “(Nothing But) Flowers” and “Life During Wartime.”

The talented lineup accompanying Byrne included Mauro Refosco, Ray Suen, Kely Pinheiro, Daniel Mintseris, Stephane San Juan, Tim Keiper, Yuri Yamashita, Tendayi Kuumba, Sasha Rivero, Hannah Straney, Sean Donovan, and Jordan Dobson.

NPR lauded the performance as “a bucket-list performance for the Tiny Desk,” a testament to the enduring appeal and innovative spirit of David Byrne.
