Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau Take Their Romance to Japan, Former PM Fumio Kishida Praises Enduring Friendship
Pop superstar Katy Perry and her new beau, former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, recently enjoyed a high-profile lunch in Japan with former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. The meeting took place while Perry, 41, was on a break from her “The Lifetimes” world tour.
Kishida, who served as Prime Minister from 2021 to 2024, shared his appreciation for the continued friendship with Trudeau on social media. “Former Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau came to Japan with his partner Katy Perry and had lunch with us,” Kishida posted, adding, “During my time as Prime Minister, I met Prime Ministers many times, and during my visit to Canada, we worked together to strengthen our bilateral relations, including formulating the ‘Nikka Action Plan.’ I am glad that we are continuing this friendship.”
He also commended Trudeau’s commitment during his term, noting, “Prime Minister Trudeau still remains strong that in addition to official events, he visited the Atomic Bomb Archives separately during the G7 Hiroshima Summit.”
For the luncheon, Perry was impeccably dressed in a stylish green two-piece outfit, complemented by black tights, a matching turtleneck blouse, and boots. She was seen with her arm wrapped around Trudeau, who sported a gray suit, as they met with Kishida and his wife, Yuko Kishida.
This Japanese outing follows their public debut as a couple on October 25, when they were seen leaving Crazy Horse Paris. Reports indicate they attended a cabaret show at the Parisian hotspot to celebrate Perry’s 41st birthday.
Meanwhile, Justin Trudeau’s ex-wife, Sophie Grégoire, recently opened up about how she navigates the public attention surrounding her former husband’s new relationship. In an appearance on the “Arlene Is Alone” podcast, Grégoire, who separated from Trudeau in 2023 after 18 years of marriage, addressed host Arlene Dickinson’s question about the “noise” surrounding the couple.
“We’re all human beings and stuff affects us,” Grégoire stated. “How you react to stuff is your decision.
So, I choose to try to listen to the music instead of the noise.” She acknowledged the emotional impact, saying, “I’m very aware that a lot of public stuff out there can be triggers.
We’re humans. What I do with it is my decision.
The woman I want to become through this is my decision. Does it mean that I don’t have emotions?
That I don’t cry, scream, laugh? No!”
Despite their split, Trudeau and Grégoire remain committed to co-parenting their three children-Xavier, 18, Ella-Grace, 16, and Hadrien, 11. “We have separate lives, but we have one family life,” Grégoire explained.
“And I think that we need two individuals in a couple … to detangle. It’s not always easy to live, but it’s very adult,” she concluded.
This high-profile romance comes after Perry and her ex-fiancé, Orlando Bloom, confirmed their breakup in July following over a decade together. They share a 5-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove.
