Minneapolis, MN – A 47-year-old man tragically died Tuesday evening after being hit by a snowplow at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP). The incident occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m. in a parking lot adjacent to Terminal 2, according to Jeff Lea, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Airports Commission, which oversees airport operations.

The parking lot where the accident took place serves LSG Sky Chefs, an in-flight catering services company. At the time of the incident, temperatures were in the upper 20s with light snow falling, contributing to challenging conditions that led to over 200 flight delays out of MSP on Tuesday.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim. The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting with the ongoing investigation.

In a related development, the city of Minneapolis declared a snow emergency starting Wednesday at 9 p.m., implementing parking restrictions to facilitate snow removal efforts. City officials emphasized that these measures are crucial for plows to clear streets, ensuring accessibility for emergency vehicles and other traffic.
