Amazon Driver Caught on Camera Taking Los Angeles Woman’s Cat

Los Angeles, CA – A Los Angeles woman’s quest to find her missing cat took a shocking turn when security footage revealed an Amazon delivery driver allegedly picking up her feline friend and driving off. Diane Huff-Medina, the distraught pet owner, is now working with Amazon and local law enforcement in a desperate attempt to reunite with her beloved cat, Piper.

The unsettling incident, captured on Huff-Medina’s Ring camera, shows an Amazon driver making a package delivery to her home. After dropping off the parcel, the driver is seen approaching Piper, attempting to pet her.

When the cat recoils, the driver then reportedly picks Piper up by the neck and leaves the property with her. The motive behind the driver’s actions remains unknown.

Huff-Medina immediately took to social media, posting a plea on her personal Facebook page that included the video footage. “An Amazon delivery person took our cat, Piper, after he dropped off a package on Thursday evening,” her post read.

“We just want her back home safely. We are working with Amazon and local law enforcement, but haven’t had much support in getting help from either one.”

Amazon has confirmed they have identified the driver involved but have reportedly been unable to make contact with them. Huff-Medina’s Facebook post further detailed her frustrations, stating, “Amazon has identified the driver but has not been able to get ahold of them.

If anyone has any tips on what we can do, let us know! Feel free to share.

Thank you!”

Under California law, pets are considered personal property. The act of taking someone’s property without their permission with the intent to deprive them of it constitutes theft.

The severity of the charge and penalty would depend on the determined value of the pet. If the animal’s value is $950 or less, it’s typically considered petty theft, a misdemeanor.

If the value exceeds $950, it could be grand theft, which can be charged as a misdemeanor or a felony. This value is usually based on the purchase or adoption price of the pet.

Furthermore, if the individual entered private property with the intent to steal the pet, they could also face burglary charges.

As of now, Piper remains missing. Our thoughts are with Ms. Huff-Medina as she continues her search for her cherished pet.
