Bi-Partisan Fury Erupts Over Heavily Redacted Epstein Files, Impeachment Talk Targets AG Pam Bondi
WASHINGTON D.C. – Attorney General Pam Bondi is facing a firestorm of criticism and calls for impeachment from both sides of the political spectrum following the release of what many are calling a heavily obscured trove of documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. The long-awaited “Epstein files” have proven to be more black marks than answers, sparking outrage among lawmakers who mandated their full disclosure.
After months of anticipation, the Trump administration on Friday released approximately 20,000 images pertaining to the Justice Department’s inquiry into Jeffrey Epstein, who was convicted of sex trafficking crimes in 2019 before his death in a New York City jail cell. However, the extensive redactions within the documents, including seemingly entirely blacked-out 100-page sections believed to contain grand jury testimony, have ignited demands for Bondi’s impeachment and even arrest.
Representative Ro Khanna, a California Democrat and co-author of the law requiring complete transparency of all government investigative files on Epstein by Friday, voiced his dissatisfaction in a video statement shared on social media. “The justice department’s document dump this afternoon does not comply with Thomas Massie and my Epstein Transparency Act,” Khanna stated unequivocally.
The frustration wasn’t limited to one side of the aisle. Representative Thomas Massie, a Kentucky Republican and Khanna’s legislative partner, re-posted Khanna’s video, adding his own condemnation. Massie commented that the released documents, overseen by Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche (formerly a personal attorney for Trump), “grossly fails to comply with both the spirit and the letter of the law” that President Trump signed “just 30 days ago.”
Massie further warned on social media, “A future DOJ could convict the current AG and others because the Epstein Files Transparency Act is not like a Congressional Subpoena which expires at the end of each Congress.”
During an appearance on CNN with Kaitlan Collins, Khanna revealed that he and Massie are already in the process of drafting articles of impeachment against Bondi, though he noted they have not yet decided to formally introduce them.
The outcry extended to other prominent figures, with Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez accusing the Trump administration of a blatant cover-up. “Now the coverup is out in the open.
This is far from over. Everyone involved will have to answer for this.
Pam Bondi, Kash Patel, whole admin,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on X, formerly Twitter. She continued, “Protecting a bunch of rapists and pedophiles because they have money, power, and connections.
Bondi should resign tonight.”
CNN Anchor Jake Tapper highlighted the extent of the redactions during a broadcast, showing viewers a document that was a full 100 pages of complete blackouts. “This is one of the documents the DOJ released.
It’s 100 pages. It’s all black.
It’s 100 pages of redaction. That’s the transparency we’re getting,” Tapper remarked.
In contrast, Fox News reported that “the same redaction standards were applied to politically exposed individuals and government officials” and that the Justice Department had deleted victim names and identification. However, Deputy Attorney General Blanche reportedly contacted Fox after the article sparked objections from Massie and others, asserting that the Justice Department is “not redacting the names of any politicians.”
The controversy has also brought attention to unusual elements within the released materials, including a “bizarre scrapbook filled with mystery images found in Epstein files,” and reports of the DOJ website crashing seconds after the files went live.
