Los Angeles, CA – In a developing story that has gripped the community, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge has issued a block on the public release of autopsy details pertaining to the deaths of Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner. The move comes as authorities continue their investigation into the tragic incident.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed receiving a court order, initiated by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), which prohibits the disclosure of information, photographs, and reports related to the ongoing death investigation. This order effectively removes the cases from public access on the Medical Examiner’s website.
The LAPD clarified its request in a statement, emphasizing that the measure was taken “to ensure detectives from Robbery-Homicide Division learned of important information surrounding their deaths before the media and the public.” The department asserted that “the order was not sought to undermine transparency.”
Previously released medical examiner reports indicated that both Reiner and his wife succumbed to “multiple sharp force injuries” in what is suspected to be a homicide. Their death certificates provide a grim timeline, listing Rob Reiner’s time of death before his wife’s.
Interestingly, Reiner’s marital status was recorded as “married,” while Michele Singer Reiner’s certificate noted her as “widowed.” Both were cremated on December 19.
While a deputy coroner reported the couple died within minutes of sustaining their injuries, the exact date and time of the injuries remain “unknown.”
The couple’s 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, has been accused by law enforcement and prosecutors of fatally stabbing his parents in the early morning hours. The LAPD stated that the Reiners were discovered in the master bedroom of their home.
Nick Reiner was arrested on December 14 on suspicion of first-degree murder and is currently being held without bail. He is scheduled for arraignment on January 7.
