PGA Tour Reshuffles Fall Schedule, Adds New Stops and Bids Farewell to Long-Standing Events

The PGA Tour has unveiled its revised FedEx Cup Fall schedule, featuring eight tournaments that will see a strategic shift from the spring season. While two new events are set to debut, the tour will also say goodbye to a pair of established championships, including one with roots predating the modern tour itself.

New to the fall lineup are tournaments in Asheville, North Carolina, and Austin, Texas. These additions will fill the void left by the departure of the Sanderson Farms Championship in Mississippi, a fixture since 1968, and the Procore Championship in Napa, California, which has been part of the FedEx Cup era since its inception in 2007.

The Sanderson Farms Championship, which began as the Magnolia Classic in 1968 and has operated under five different title sponsorships, saw its title sponsorship conclude this year. However, Sanderson Farms has committed to extending its support for an additional year in 2025.

The Procore Championship, a lead event for the fall, had recently secured a two-year deal in summer 2024. This year’s event at Silverado Resort notably drew a strong field, including nearly all members of the U.S.

Ryder Cup team, with Scottie Scheffler ultimately claiming victory.

The FedEx Cup Fall will kick off the week before the Presidents Cup, which is scheduled for September 24-27 at Medinah outside Chicago. The inaugural Biltmore Championship Asheville in North Carolina will mark the start of the fall series.

The other new tournament, the Good Good Championship in Austin, Texas, was previously announced. Austin last hosted a PGA Tour-sanctioned event in 2023 with the Dell Match Play, the final installment of the World Golf Championships series.

Minor adjustments have also been made to the existing schedule. The Bank of Utah Championship will now take place from October 1-4, a week prior to the PGA Tour’s trip to Japan. This moves it from its 2025 slot, which had it following the Baycurrent Classic in Japan.

Furthermore, the Mexico Open is shifting from its traditional spot at the end of the West Coast Swing in February to a new fall date. This change will create a two-week swing through Mexico, with the VidantaWorld Mexico Open in Vallarta running from October 29 to November 1, immediately followed by the World Wide Technology Championship in Los Cabos. The two Mexican venues are located approximately 350 miles apart across the Gulf of California.

Following a week off after the Japan event, the tour will conclude its fall season with stops in Bermuda, two weeks in Mexico, Texas, and finally, the RSM Classic along the Georgia coast.

Looking ahead, the 2026 season is slated to feature 45 tournaments, with four of these events running concurrently with either majors or the tour’s signature events. The FedEx Cup Fall series plays a crucial role for players aiming to secure full cards for the subsequent year by finishing within the top 100, or by earning two-year exemptions through tournament victories.
