Nikki Glaser Roasts Leonardo DiCaprio’s Love Life

Nikki Glaser, the quick-witted host of the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, didn’t shy away from making headlines herself during her opening monologue on Sunday in Los Angeles. The comedian, now in her second turn hosting the prestigious event, took direct aim at Hollywood heavyweight Leonardo DiCaprio and his well-documented dating preferences.

Glaser, 41, kicked off her routine by quipping, “Leonardo DiCaprio is here for ‘one man bun after another,'” a playful jab at the actor’s string of younger romantic partners. She then proceeded to laud DiCaprio’s impressive career achievements, rattling off his numerous iconic performances, collaborations with esteemed directors, three Golden Globes, and an Oscar.

However, the praise took a humorous turn. “What a career you’ve had,” Glaser continued, “Countless iconic performances, you’ve worked with every great director, you’ve won three Golden Globes, an Oscar, and the most impressive thing is that you were able to accomplish that all before your girlfriend turned 30.”

The audience erupted in laughter, and Glaser, feigning remorse, added, “I mean, that’s just insane. Leo, I’m sorry I made that joke.

It’s cheap. I tried not to, but, like, we don’t know anything else about you, man.

There’s nothing else. Open up!

I’m serious! I looked!

I searched! The most in-depth interview you’ve ever given was in Teen Beat magazine in 1991.

Is your favorite food still ‘Pasta, pasta and more pasta?'”

DiCaprio, 51, a nominee for Best Male Actor – Motion Picture – Musical/Comedy, appeared to take the jokes in stride, offering Glaser a nod of approval and a thumbs up.

The acclaimed actor has been publicly linked to supermodel Vittoria Ceretti, 27, since 2023. Before Ceretti, DiCaprio’s dating history famously included Irina Shayk, who had previously dated Oscar-winner Bradley Cooper. Adding another layer to the Hollywood relationship web, Cooper is now reportedly with supermodel Gigi Hadid, who has also been rumored to have had a past romance with DiCaprio.

Ceretti, in a recent interview with Vogue France, addressed the challenges of dating a high-profile individual. “As soon as you’re in a relationship with someone who has a larger following than you, you become ‘girlfriend of’ – or ‘boyfriend of,’ for that matter.

And that can be extremely annoying,” she confessed. “Suddenly, people are talking about you as so-and-so’s girlfriend who was so-and-so’s ex.

So, it’s not nice to think that you can’t love whoever you want, because of the labels people need to stick on you.”

DiCaprio, known for his intensely private personal life, shared his philosophy on fame in a TIME magazine interview last year. “It’s been a balance I’ve been managing my whole adult life, and still I’m not an expert,” he stated.

“I think my simple philosophy is only get out there and do something when you have something to say, or you have something to show for it. Otherwise, just disappear as much as you possibly can.”

DiCaprio’s dating habits weren’t the only target of Glaser’s comedic barbs. The host also aimed at CBS News during her monologue, labeling it the place for “BS news.”

“And the award for ‘Most Editing’ goes to CBS News. Yes, CBS News, America’s newest place to see BS news,” Glaser declared.

This dig follows a year of controversies and a change in ownership at CBS, leading to new leadership. Critics have accused the network of losing credibility, particularly since Paramount’s settlement with former President Trump and the installation of David Ellison as the new CEO.

Ellison’s efforts to revitalize CBS News, including bringing in The Free Press founder Bari Weiss as editor-in-chief in October, have drawn fire from progressive commentators. Weiss has faced criticism for significant behind-the-scenes decisions, such as reportedly pulling a “60 Minutes” segment just hours before its scheduled airtime.
